Jeffrey L. Smith, P.E., SECB is the principal of Smith Structural Engineers. He founded the firm in 1990 and has over 32 years of structural design experience. Mr. Smith hails from George West, Texas and attended Southwest Texas State University in San Marcos and the University of Texas at Austin to earn Bachelor of Architecture and Bachelor of Science in Architectural Engineering degrees.
Mr. Smith is currently an active member of the Austin Chapter of the Structural Engineers Association of Texas. In the past he has served as the treasurer and secretary for the Austin Chapter of the Texas Society of Professional Engineers. For 8 years he was a volunteer instructor for the Austin Women in Architecture’s Study Course for the Architectural Licensing Examination and for 3 years he served in the same capacity for the San Antonio Chapter of the American Institute of Architects. He is certified by the Structural Engineering Certification Board in the practice of structural engineering.
When Mr. Smith is not engineering, he pursues his other passion of ranching in South Texas. This includes working with horses and cattle, hunting and fishing, and winding down the day with a fiddle or mandolin.
